Change of Product Specification Luxaflex DuetteŽ & Plisse Shades

30/07/2009

Important: Change of Product Specification Luxaflex Duette® & Plisse Shades
A new European Standard has been devised for internal blinds, including new requirements for safety. As a responsible supplier CrosbyBlinds & Luxaflex are undertaking a review of products to ensure that they meet this new requirement. In order to comply with the requirements of European Standard EN 13120:2009 (Internal blinds – Performance requirements including safety), the specification for control cords on both Duette® and Plisse Shades will change from Monday 20th July 2009.
The existing method of tying the pull cord off onto the bottom rail effectively creates a loop which poses a potential risk of STRAGULATION to young children. This arrangement also prevents the cord from being tied out of reach of young children by a safety device such as a cleat. The revised method will involve the pull cord being left free hanging and finished with a tassel. A cord cleat will be supplied with each blind to enable it to be tied safely out of reach from young children.
From Monday 20th July 2009 all Duette® and Plisse Shades will be sent with new instructions and a new ‘safety tag’ which explains the risk of strangulation. When installing the blinds please ensure that you use this cleat, are aware of the potential dangers and retain the safety warnings received with the blinds.
